Study Forensic Linguistics at Aston University

In the most recent National Student Survey the undergraduate English Language programme at Aston scored an astonishing 100% student satisfaction. We know that many undergraduates are attracted to Aston by their interest in forensic linguistics and we probably offer more forensics than any other UK linguistics programme.

First year undergraduates on the English Language programmes are given an early taste of forensic linguistics across a variety of modules, and in their subsequent years many elect to take modules such as Language of the Law and Language as Evidence. For the first time this year we have been able to offer an undergraduate placement year opportunity to an intern within CFL.

For 2013 we have redesigned and renamed our on-campus masters-level programme. As well as our established focus on the linguistic skills of language description, the new MA Forensic Linguistics now includes more forensic modules including a practical applications module that can involve a work- based placement. We are also working on exciting opportunities for continuation of study beyond the one-year Masters.

The MSc in Forensic Linguistics is a now a well-established and popular programme. It is designed to suit academic linguists and forensic professionals and is studied entirely at a distance from anywhere in the world. We use the latest technologies to deliver our programme and materials include online lectures, discussions and e-library materials.

Please note: the Distance Learning Research Degree programme for Forensic Linguistics is currently full.
